Robotic-Assisted Radical Prostatectomy (RARP) is the global gold standard for treating localized prostate cancer. Using the state-of-the-art Da Vinci Surgical System, elite Indian uro-oncologists can operate with 3D high-definition vision and robotic arms that bend and rotate far beyond the capabilities of the human hand. This extreme precision is crucial in the narrow male pelvis. It allows the surgeon to successfully extract the cancerous prostate while executing a "nerve-sparing" technique—delicately peeling away and preserving the microscopic neurovascular bundles that control erections and bladder continence. Medical tourists choose India for this to access world-class robotic surgeons at a fraction of Western retail prices.
Details zum Verfahren
Performed under general anesthesia. The surgeon makes 5 to 6 tiny (8mm) keyhole incisions across the abdomen to insert the robotic camera and instruments. Seated at a console, the surgeon controls the robotic arms to detach the prostate gland from the bladder and urethra. The cancerous gland (and sometimes surrounding lymph nodes) is placed in a surgical retrieval bag and extracted through one of the keyholes. The bladder is then seamlessly stitched back to the urethra. A urinary catheter is left in place for 7-10 days to allow the new connection to heal.
